Oh Netflix, just when I think you have given me the world’s greatest gifts (Orange is the New Black and House of Cards), you come through with more magic! This time it was in the form of a brilliant feast for the eyes with Chef’s Table.
This six-part series, which was released in early 2015, is not a “how to” cooking show – I think there are enough of those. Instead, each episode dives deep into the imagination and motivation of a legendary chef and captures the poetry of their soul. In addition to the inspirational stories that are caught on film, the screen comes alive with culinary masterpieces that are created using simple, divine ingredients. Aesthetically, the show is a gallery of the world’s most exquisite food.
Summer can be a dismal season for finding quality programming – if you’re looking for something interesting and inspiring, I encourage you to give this one a try. I devoured all six episodes within a couple of weeks. It has definitely become one of my favorite things.
